New FAITH NO MORE Album 'Will Be Much Different Than Everything Else Out There,' Says BILL GOULD
November 4, 2014Influential alt-metal act FAITH NO MORE, which reunited in 2009 for a series of sold-out performances and international festivals, is currently recording its first full-length album since 1997's "Album Of The Year". Around 10 songs have been tracked so far and another 15 exist in demo form.
"It'll be much different than everything else out there — but that's sort of the point," FAITH NO MORE bassist Bill Gould tells Revolver magazine. "It's a combination of what we don't hear in the outside world and what we feel is lacking from other bands. And in the end, it will sound like FAITH NO MORE."
The first new FAITH NO MORE song to be officially released is "Motherfucker", which will be made available as a limited-edition seven-inch single for Record Store Day Black Friday on November 28. Another track, "Cone If Shame", described by the bassist as "blues-based rock and roll" with some "influences from LINK WRAY, CRAMPS, and a little black metal."
FAITH NO MORE's as-yet-untitled new album is being recorded in an Oakland, California studio with Gould handling production. The release will be the first from FAITH NO MORE's newly formed imprint Reclamation Recordings, which will be distributed by Ipecac Recordings.
Among the songs set to appear on the CD is "Matador", which was written in early 2012 and first performed by FAITH NO MORE in concert that summer.
"Parts of it remind me of the first SIOUXSIE AND THE BANSHEES album," Gould tells Revolver. "We used real pianos and that brings this organic quality to it to the music."
Prior to the new album's release, FAITH NO MORE will headline Australia's Soundwave festival in February 2015. Worldwide tour dates will be announced soon.
FAITH NO MORE is Mike Bordin (drums),Roddy Bottum (keyboards),Bill Gould (bass),Jon Hudson (guitar) and Mike Patton (vocals).
